Ames High School football runs out

Ames High School student Joe Evans leads the Little Cyclones onto the field on Friday, Sept. 28, 2013 prior to its homecoming game against Fort Dodge in Ames. The Little Cyclones defeated the Dodgers 62-21 to remain undefeated at 5-0, scoring 56 of its 62 points in the first half. Senior running back Clifford Kwaw-Mensah led the way for the Little Cyclones with 260 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries in the win. The Little Cyclones combined for 630 yards of offense on 49 plays.

A team of steer wrestlers participate in the 2013 Cyclone Stampede Rodeo on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 held at Cyclone Stampede Arena in Ames. In steer wrestling, one rider ropes the steer from a horse while the other jumps from the horse to wrestle the steer to the ground. The rodeo was the 51st Cyclone Stampede held by the ISU Rodeo Club and was a competition between college rodeo competitors from schools across the upper Midwest.

The storm hit the ISU campus around 10:30 on Wednesday morning and poured through the early afternoon before clearing up. Ames received 0.37 inches of rain over the course of the storm.

Kreeger was one of six performers in the saddle bronc riding event, in which the rider uses a specialized saddle with free swinging stirrups to stay on the horse as long as possible. The rodeo was the 51st Cyclone Stampede held by the ISU Rodeo Club.

Mike Gilger of Gilger Designs in Ames, Iowa, hammers a gem stone on a pendant on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013. Gilger started in the jewlery business when he was 17 and has been working with jewlery for the past 45 years. After starting in a chain jewlery store, Gilger started his own business when he was 22. Gilger Designs makes custom jewlery ranging from rings to necklaces. Gilger had already spent eight hours on this pendant before he eventually finished the product Wednesday evening.

ISU junior guard Nikki Moody goes up for a layup in Iowa State's in-state rivalry game against Northern Iowa on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones defeated the Panthers for the 11th consecutive season with an 83-55 victory. Moody scored 16 points and dished out eight assists for Iowa State in the win, which moved Iowa State's early-season record to 7-0.
